What is a Funeral Plan?

The money you pay is held in trust until such times it is called upon. It is not held by A & A Walters or associated companies.

A pre-paid funeral plan is a secure and cost-effective method of ensuring that your funeral is arranged and paid for with the minimum of fuss. Money that you pay is held by the Golden Charter Trust Fund. By taking out a pre-paid Funeral Plan also means that any wishes you have for the arrangements will be carried out in accordance with your instructions.

What are the payment options?

You can pay for your plan in a single payment by cash, cheque, debit or credit card. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments with Direct Debit over any period up to 120 months. There is no extra charge if you choose to pay within 12 months (subject to terms & conditions)

Which Funeral Plans do A & A Walters offer?

At A & A Walters we prefer to offer the 'Independent Way' Funeral Plan which is a bespoke plan fully supported by Golden Charter Funeral Plans. The' Independent Way' has the same level of protection for you money but enables you to have a plan tailored to your exact requirements. This is different to the packaged plans discussed on the Golden Charter website.

You can download a brochure about the 'Independent Way' by clicking here.

What are the benefits of a pre-paid funeral plan?

There are a number of benefits of taking out a Pre-Paid Funeral Plan:

  1. You are able to organise every detail of your funeral.

  2. Relieve your family of worry and uncertainty.

  3. You guarantee the cost of our services*
  4. Financial security.
  5. Value for money.
  6. You ensure that your funeral is carried out by A & A Walters in accordance with your wishes.

*Important note - There are some third-party costs (e.g. crematorium and/or burial) that we are obliged to pay on your behalf. The amount of this expenditure is not within our control and may require a further payment at the time of need.
Any changes or additions to the plan at the time of need may also incur an additional cost.

Life Insurance

Should you not wish to take out a Pre-Paid Funeral Plan we recommend that you have a Life Insurance Policy which will meet the cost of any future funeral expenses. This not only ensures that you have the funeral that you would wish for but also helps to reduce stress on your family.

A significant proportion of the funeral expenses are paid out by A & A Walters to third-parties such as councils for burial or cremation costs. Such costs are known as 'dispersements' and have in recent years seen a well above inflation rise (sometimes in excess of 10% per year.) With such a significant year-on-year increase, life insurance may help to meet these costs and provide peace of mind for the future.
