WHY AN INDEPENDENT?

A number of funeral directors still trade under an established family name but are in fact part of national organisations. Clearly these large organisations recognise the reassurance and added benefits that a trusted family name can bring to the bereaved.

Contrary to what you might expect, independent funeral directors are often cheaper than national funeral organisations - 'a highly attractive paradox of the funeral industry is that the best funeral directors are often the least expensive. A funeral cost comparison survey conducted in January 2010 by IPSOS Mori for the National Society of Allied and Independent funeral directors found that, on average in England, Scotland and Wales, Dignity is the most expensive, independents are cheapest, with Co-operative Funeralcare somewhere in between.'
